Trailer for The Trials of Constance Baker Motley.

At the height of the civil rights movement, New Yorker Constance Baker Motley was the only woman on the NAACP’s legal team. Likely the first black, female lawyer Southern judges and juries had ever seen, she stunned Dixie’s denizens by winning case after case, gaining the right for black students to enter Ole Miss, Clemson College, and the University of Georgia. With the words “first black woman” preceding almost every position she held, Motley demonstrated that barriers of racism and sexism can be smashed with intelligence, elegance, and humor.
