Trailer for The Predator, starring Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key and Olivia Munn.

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black's explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe's most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

The Predator is Directed by Shane Black, who also directed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3 & The Nice Guys. Shane is also slated to direct Doc Savage which will star Dwayne Johnson.

The original Predator film came out on June 12, 1987 which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. In its lifetime it made just under $60 Million at the box office. It was the 12th highest grossing film at the box office back in 1987:

1 Three Men and a Baby
2 Fatal Attraction
3 Beverly Hills Cop II
4 Good Morning, Vietnam
5 Moonstruck
6 The Untouchables
7 The Secret of My Success
8 Stakeout
9 Lethal Weapon
10 The Witches of Eastwick
11 Dirty Dancing

The Predator is one of those classic "villains" that many many people have a distinct image in their head from the original film that is hard to match. They have tried to revise the Predator character in sequels. Their last attempt was with the Aliens vs Predator spinoff, which was not a huge success. They actually made two Alien vs Predator films and the last one only made $41 Million.

With that in mind, you have wonder why they felt the need to revisit this character once again. Once can only hope that there must be some sort of story worth telling, but for me this seems like just another Hollywood desperate move to remake a classic and try to cash in.
