In 1920's rural Spain, Sasha, a young gay man, fights to keep his relationship with his longtime lover Emilio safe from cultural pressures. But when the weaker Emilio submits to the matrimonial will of his family, Sasha is distraught. His emotional world crumbling, Sasha too gives in to his father's wishes and chooses to succumb and marry as well. Once his decision is made, not even a wildly desperate Emilio can sway him from what he considers his filial duty. Although Emilio is willing to leave his wife and run away, Sasha has made his choice: he rejects Emilio, goes through with his wedding, and steels himself for a life of repression.
