When Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater, they help Kermit reunite the Muppets to stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater.
This is the first theatrical Muppets film since Muppets from Space, in 1999.
The late Muppets creator Jim Henson is featured in The Muppets movie. Firstly, there is a framed picture of him and Kermit in Kermit's office, but his voice also features archive clips of the Muppet Show, and in a brief clip of the song, "Mah Na Mah Na."
Watch out for the crowded car scene featuring several Muppets, plus Amy Adams and Jason Segel. Due to lack of space, Adams and Segel were asked to operate the Muppets sitting on either side of them.
A planned appearance by Elmo of Sesame Street had to be scrapped after it was nixed by lawyers. Sesame Street characters have appeared in Muppet films before, but are no longer able to since the Muppet characters were bought by Disney in 2004.
The Muppets are back, and what a joy it is to see them on our screens once again! This time, there's a new Muppet in town; Walter. The biggest fan of The Muppet Show, Walter reunites all the familiar faces for a benefit concert to save the Muppet theater.
Amy Adams and Jason Segel star alongside Kermit, Fozzy, Gonzo and of course, Miss Piggy, who is just as fabulous as ever. This movie has it all; great cameos, laugh out loud gags and some of the best songs the Muppets have ever given us.
There's something so delightfully nostalgic about watching the Muppets back on our screens, and The Muppets feels like a return to form- similar in style to The Great Muppet Caper, or The Muppets Take Manhattan.
As the trailer shows, this is a movie for everyone, and for those of us who grew up watching the Muppets on TV, now we get a chance to introduce the next generation to these lovable, funny, and friendly characters. Some of the humor will bypass kids completely, but that's okay, that's one of the great things about The Muppets; it works on multiple levels and therefore it makes watching the movie an enjoyable experience for the whole family, not just something we have to suffer through.
If this The Muppets trailer doesn't entice you to watch the movie then okay, maybe it's not for you, since it does offer a good idea of what to expect; singing, dancing, a story with real heart, and Fozzy Bear's farting shoes.
