Final trailer for The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella and Annabelle Wallis.
An ancient princess is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension.
The release schedule for The Mummy did experience some hiccups. Such as, the film was originally meant to be a 2016 summer tentpole. Obviously, it missed that by a longshot. To make matters worse, IMAX's version of the trailer, released December of 2016, had the wrong audio track attached to it. Instead of featuring the correct sound effects, they were instead replaced by grunts and screams from film star Tom Cruise. In a bit of a panic, IMAX issued their own DMCA takedown notices in order to get the trailer pulled.
Considering the response the mistake got, it is a surprise that the video is still not resurfacing on the internet.
It was assumed that this monster adventure would have its fair share of laughs and charm. The only catch was that those were both fairly absent from the previous trailers. To make up for time lost, this "final" trailer is sure to push some of the comedy and charm from our lead hero. And, while doing so, we also learn that Tom Cruise's Nick Morton character is not only cursed, but has received some Mummy-ish powers of his own.
So definitely expect some major supernatural battle between him and Princess Ahmanet.
When I first heard of this surprise trailer, I assumed it was going to make a point to focus on Russell Crowe's Dr. Henry Jekyll. Especially since the character had a coming-out moment in the most recent featurette. It makes scene for the grander scheme, especially since that character is due up for his own solo installment.
