When they realize help is not coming, they embark on a perilous journey across hundreds of miles of wilderness, pushing one another to endure and discovering strength they never knew possible. The film is directed by Academy Award nominee Hany Abu-Assad and stars Academy Award winner Kate Winslet and Golden Globe winner Idris Elba.

The film is based on Charles Martin's book "The Mountain Between Us".

The film's two main characters Ben Bass and Alex Martin have seen several actors set to play the roles before settling on Idris Elba and Kate Winslet. Michael Fassbender was originally cast as Dr. Bass and then replaced by Charlie Hunnam who also eventually dropped out. Margot Robbie was the first actress cast to play Alex and eventually replaced by Rosamund Pike who also eventually dropped out.

The Mountain Between Us looks like your typical survival stories, but with a bit of a twist. I do love survival stories and just about always find myself getting sucked into the story and love rooting for the character(s) to make it...which they usually always do.

I love both actors Idris Elba and Kate Winslet...I would see this film just to see them. This hinges on these two actors' performances and I am confident that they will pull it off.

It is hard to tell based on this trailer how dire their survival chances will get, but I do not think they will have to go the lengths the characters in movies like 127 Hours and The Revenant went through. From the looks of it, the trailer focuses on the first act of the film and I am sure there is still plenty more to see of their adventure to survive. And I cannot wait to see what happens when this film hits theaters.
