The Monster Trailer

Trailer for A24's The Monster.

A mother and daughter must confront a terrifying monster when they break down on a deserted road.

Lacking an original title for the films, it was previously titled There Are Monsters before deciding to change it officially to just The Monster.

Elisabeth Moss was originally cast as Kathy, but decided to drop out.

Director Bryan Bertino has also previously directed both Mockingbird and The Strangers. He also was the Writer for both films. And, Bryan is set to write the script for The Strangers 2, sequel to his first film.

An interesting premise for this film which has a lot of the necessities for a decent horror film. You have a small group of people getting stuck out in the middle of nowhere (check), it is not only dark outside but also raining (check, check), there is a mysterious beast lurking close by (check) and the group is confined to a small space with limited visibility (check).

I get the feeling that there will be quite a few of those startling moments where you are waiting for something to jump out at you and when it does you jump too. Of course the one thing we all wanted to see while watching the trailer, is what does "the monster" look like? But, the studio is smart and only gives us a few out of focus glimpses plus the dead corpse of a smaller version. But, if you want a  better look at the beast, then look no further than the film's poster.

I am not a huge horror fan, so this film does not immediately pique my interest but I can see some interesting elements. I will most likely skip this film, but if you are a horror fan than this will most likely be up your alley.
