Trailer for The Fundamentals of Caring.
A man suffering an incredible amount of loss enrolls in a class about care-giving that changes his perspective on life.
The film had its world premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival as the Closing Night Film. In January 2016, prior to the film's premiere at the festival Netflix acquired global distribution rights to the film. The film will debut on Netflix on June 24, 2016.
This is what you call a shotgun film. Filming began on January 22, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia and concluded on February 26th...only 26 days of filming!
The film is based on Jonathan Evison's novel "The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving".
It is always nice to see well known actors taking on indie projects and trying to show their diversity. Paul Rudd is hot of the heels of playing Ant-Man in the Marvel Universe and Selenda Gomez has been busy with her music and being Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania franchise, but the two joined this project.
It must have been a combination of the story (scripts are everything) and the filming taking less than 4 weeks which was appealing. BY having Rudd and Gomez, the film already gains immediate exposure which is probably why Netflix had such a great interest.
This looks like a light-hearted fun film that will have you feeling good at the end.
