Trailer for The Front Man.

How does one measure success? By fame? Money? Immortality? Five-time Emmy® winner Paul Devlin (Power Trip, FFF 2003 Grand Jury Award winner; Blast!, FFF 2009) explores that question via a rare non-fiction comedy focused on Jim Wood, an everyman musician so burdened by a desire for stardom that he risks missing what success really means. Dynamic and abrasively funny, Wood is front man for a Jersey band called Loaded Poets. He's toiled in the rock and roll trenches for decades, yet all he has to show for it are a delightful wife, supportive band-mates, and a well-paying career outside of music. Not bad... But if you're not famous, have you failed? Jim is haunted by that thought. Throughout a tale that spans 27 years (!) he endures humiliations by Howard Stern, detours onto a cult horror movie set, and endures frank discussions of a married couple's sexual habits. Jim's hilarious struggle with a perfectly fine life that hasn't turned out as desired is transformed into universal truths for the rest of us. We are all the front man of our own lives. Very little will turn out as planned. Embrace it.
