The Emoji Movie Trailer (2017)

Trailer for The Emoji Movie.

Gene, a multi-expressional emoji, sets out on a journey to become a normal emoji.

This will be Director Tony Leondis's 4th time at the helm of a film and just liek The Mojie Movie, the prior three were all animated:

Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters
Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch

The Emoji Movie Trailer 1
Since this is an animated film it can be difficult to figure out which actor is doing the voice-over work, here is a cheat sheet:

T. J. Miller - Gene (main character)
Anna Faris - Jailbreak (codebreaker emoji)
James Corden - high five emoji
Patrick Stewart - poop emoji
Jennifer Coolidge - Mary Meh (Gene's mom)
Steven Wright - Mel Meh (Gene's dad)
Maya Rudolph - smiley emoji
Rob Riggle - ice cream emoji
Jake T. Austin - Alex (human boy who owns the phone)
Sofía Vergara - Flamenco Dancer
Christina Aguilera - Akiko Glitter

The first teaser trailer did not give us much, we did not even get to see the main character Gene (T.J. Miller). It basically gave us some visuals and a quick tease for the humor we would expect in this film...probably a good thing.

It is amazing that they can make an animated film out of just about anything...a movie about emojis. Seems crazy to me how they will be able to pull this off and based on this trailer, it looks like this will be a fail.

I am a big fan of T.J. Miller, I love him in Silicon Valley and think he has a great voice for animated films like what he did in How to Train Your Dragon, but based on this trailer I will be skipping The Emoji Movie in theaters but I am sure my kids will eventually want to watch it On Demand.
