Trailer for The Dressmaker.
Based on Rosalie Ham's best selling novel, The Dressmaker is the story of femme fatale Tilly Dunnage who returns to her small home town in the country to right the wrongs of the past. A stylish drama with comic undertones about love, revenge and haute couture.
The film was originally set to be released in 2015, but production was pushed back a year to accommodate Kate Winslet's pregnancy with husband Ned RocknRoll.
The fictional town of Dungatar was built from scratch as no town in Victoria, Australia, matched production designer Roger Ford's wish to achieve a Western town with Australian characteristics.
The Dressmaker premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and received a standing ovation at the completion.
It is always intriguing to see a unique take and all too familiar genre. The Dressmaker goes with the perspective of a woman who is seen as a bit of an outsider due to a scandalous murder, who keeps pushing back against the norm and designs provocative dresses which turn out to be a hit.
This is not the type of movie that peeks my interest but I can see this as being a great date movie. Kate Winslet is a great actresses and can definitely carry a film. With her at the forefront and a half naked Liam Hemsworth in the trailer, you can be sure my wife will want to see this. Now, I just hope that the story is not a let down.
