When young Karl moves to Copenhagen from his small village in the Danish countryside, he finds it hard to adjust to the diversity and hectic pace of city life. Luckily, he's soon taken under the wing of his new classmate Sawsan, a talented singer, who helps him navigate the social order at school and in the city. When Sawsan auditions for the country's biggest TV singing competition and scores a spot on the show's finale, her dreams are quickly dashed by her parents, who want her to concentrate on her studies and refuse to let her participate. Determined that Sawsan not miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Karl hatches a plan to get her to the finale, leading to an epic journey that teaches the two friends the importance of embracing their differences and the unique qualities they each possess.
