The Bad Mother is the story of Tara, a mid-30s woman struggling with her role as a stay-at-home mom after leaving a rewarding career to raise kids. Bored and isolated, she longs for a time when she was a rising star at work.
Compounding Tara’s situation is the fact that her husband John works for a company that expects slave-like devotion from its employees. John is absent far too often, leaving Tara to pick up the parenting slack and dream of better times when she was with her old boyfriend, Francis, played by superfood “rock star” David Avocado Wolfe.
Tara copes by writing cathartic, scathing notes on her computer. It is her secret venting place until her 5-year-old son shares her thoughts with the world by accidentally posting a rant on social media.
Tara’s relatable post about being undervalued as a mother and blocked as a professional goes viral. After going on camera drugged, she becomes an unwilling cause célèbre to women in the same boat.
