Trailer for The Art of Loving (Sztuka kochania. Historia Michaliny Wislockiej).

This sprightly biopic follows the life of Michalina Wisłocka, a Polish doctor and sexologist who did the impossible; by breaking down the barriers of ignorance and oppressive stereotypes she revolutionized the sexual life of her country in the middle of the communist regime. And she did it with a book called The Art of Loving, which ultimately sold over seven million copies.

In a story spanning 30 years, director Maria Sadowska details the life of a brave, independent and unconventional woman who wanted to teach people that the most important aspect of a relationship is understanding and exploring each other's needs—and not only in the bedroom. The film looks back at Wisłocka’s private life (her failed marriage, the love triangle she was involved in, and her complicated relationship with a married lover), but mainly focuses on her struggle to publish her book, which was condemned by the communist party, the Catholic Church and the censors.
