This will be Andy Samberg's sixth animated, theatrical movie. The first time was in Space Chimps (2008) and the other four times were in the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs movies and the Hotel Transylvania movies, respectively.

The project was first announced in January 2013, when Warner Bros. formed its animation think tank with some directors and writers to develop animated films, Nicholas Stoller was hired by the studio to create and write Storks, while Doug Sweetland was attached to direct the film. On April 20, 2015, Andy Samberg and Kelsey Grammer were added to the voice cast of the film, and it was announced that Stoller and Sweetland would co-direct the 3D film, while Stoller would produce the film along with Brad Lewis. The original idea film was developed under the Warner Bros. Animation. Sony Pictures Imageworks will be the film's animation service. Keegan-Michael Key, and Jordan Peele were also announced in the cast who provided their voices for the film. The 15th June 2016, Jennifer Aniston was announced in the cast.

Storks was previously expected to release on February 10, 2017, which Warner Bros. had set for an untitled film. The film is currently scheduled to be released on September 23, 2016, which was previously set for Ninjago.

In a time where Hollywood continues to struggle to come up with new ideas for movies, you can always count on animated films to be the one genre to keep things fresh.

Storks looks to be a great family film filled with laughter and adventure. It has a similar feel to Madagascar and Rio films with over the top jokes that appeal to both kids and adults. I look forward to watching this film with my kids and I am hoping that there is a strong story in there too.
