High school senior Johnny Winters (John Reddy) has lived on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation his entire life. As he plans to leave South Dakota to join his college-bound girlfriend in Los Angeles, he is faced with the prospect of leaving behind his divided and vulnerable family, not least his devoted pre-teen sister Jashaun (Jashaun St. John). With a recently widowed mother and an incarcerated older brother, Johnny and Jashaun’s relationship could not feel more important.
