Trailer for Snowden.
Academy Award winning director Oliver Stone, who brought Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July, Wall Street and JFK to the big screen, tackles the most important and fascinating true story of the 21st century. Snowden, the politically-charged, pulse-pounding thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley, reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world. He is considered a hero by some, and a traitor by others. No matter which you believe, the epic story of why he did it, who he left behind, and how he pulled it off makes for one of the most compelling films of the year.
Acclaimed Director Oliver Stonehas now been at the helm for 20 feature films! And, believe it or not, Snowden will be his first feature film to be shot on digital format.
Nicolas Cage had previously played the lead in Oliver Stone's World Trade Center (2006). He agreed to a small role in this film as a favor to Stone.
Snowden will be the second biopic movie for Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The first being The Walk (2015).
Pretty much everyone knows the story of Edward Snowden, who is still at large. He was the subject of controversy and has been called a hero, a whistleblower, a dissident, a patriot, and a traitor. His disclosures have fueled debates over mass surveillance, government secrecy, and the balance between national security and information privacy.
So, with such a controversial topic which is basically still ongoing, this film already has my attention. And, then on top of that you add Oliver Stone to helm and some great actors in Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley, you have my full attention.
The film will be quite a different perspective from documentary Citizenfour, which I thought was greatly done too.
This trailer has me very excited for this film. Joseph looks to have nailed the portayal, as he almost always does, and will be able to carry the film nicely. This looks like a great thrill lide coupled with a most interesting story line that will grip audiences and I cannot wait to see!
