While most moviegoers won't care about the importance of Won Fei Hung, played by Eddie Peng in a rare leading role, Well Go USA is hoping that the popularity of the IP Man films will create some spillover for Rise of the Legend. They even make it a point to showcase some reviews acknowledging how martial stars audiences will recognize emulate the teaching of Fei.

Though Won Fei Hung did have extensive knowleddge of the Chinese martial art known as Hung Ga, he was also well known for his abilities as  a physician and acupuncturist. It will be interesting to see if Rise of the Legend touches on those other two specialties, especially since that was how Won Fei Hung ended his days.

While the story to Rise of the Legend sounds simple enough -- opening the door for constant action -- complaints from moviegoers claim the film is actually pretty slow to the point of being boring. It's hard to believe, considering what is being shown here, but maybe that is to the credit of the trailer editing. Seems unfair to raise such high expectations for constant insane martial arts action only to have little, but this could also be the reason it has taken over two years for the film to find a worthy United States distributor in Well Go USA.
