Red Sparrow is based on novel of the same name written by Jason Matthews, who was a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operative. The book has won two literary awards - ITW Thriller Award for Best First Novel and the Edgar Award for Best First Novel by an American Author.
Hard to believe but the movie rights for Jason Matthews' book "Red Sparrow" were sold before the book was published. He was also awarded a contract for a sequel to the book. Now, that is a great agent!
Red Sparrow reunites Jennifer Lawrence with her Hunger Games director, Francis Lawrence.
Although they are calling this a trailer, it plays more like a teaser...which I like. It gives us a small glimpse into the film focusing on the backstory of how Dominika (Jennifer Lawrence) is recruited. We then get a brief look at the brutal action and sex appeal this film will offer.
Jennifer Lawrence is one of my favorite actresses right now. She is not only beautiful, but a down to earth person in real life despite all of her success. Who would not want to hang out with Jennifer on a Saturday night? I love to see how her career is progressing. I think she looks amazing in Mother! and has another winner now in Red Sparrow.
