Pine Ridge Reservation, home to the Oglala Lakota Nation, has been the site of some of the most tragic events in Sioux history, including the massacre at Wounded Knee. With high unemployment, a large number of residents living below the federal poverty line, troubling rates of teen suicide and low life expectancies, the youth of Pine Ridge struggle to make sense of an uncertain future. A young mother, a boy who dreams of becoming a steward of the land, a traditional boy in a metal band and teens just trying to stay afloat are some of the gentle, close-up portraits that up-and-coming filmmaker Anna Eborn captures over the course of a long, warm summer.
