Together, they must stop the villainous Dr. Octavius Brine, from destroying the world as we know it.

DreamWorks Animation envisioned this spin-off to be a 2015 release, originally set for March of that year. Production then got ahead of schedule, allowing Penguins to make it just in time to help close out 2014.

DreamWorks also envisioned the spin-off as a direct-to-video release all the way back in 2005. The studio then remembered that direct-to-video releases were typically terrible and decided for a full feature instead.
