The Palace is a documentary about everyday life of The Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw that was a despised gift from Stalin. After the system transformation in Poland some suggested to pull it down. But the palace is still standing and doing fine pulsating with the life of hundreds of offices, hosting a theatre, concert hall, cinema and even a swimming pool and city council room.
The film shows work of security guards, who by the hundreds of cameras watching the events in the building and around it, behind the scenes of russian Alexandrov Choir performances and occupations in the pool. We follow places where the Soviet machines are still working since 50 years now. The film shows how the Poles deal with this troublesome gift to Stalin and how much the past affects the present.
