Trailer for Pacific Rim Uprising that was released to showcase the IMAX format. Preview shows plenty of never before seen footage from the film.
This sequel was originally supposed to take place shortly after, 3 years, the first installment. It was immeidately clear that Charlie Hunnam, who thought he was committing himself to a King Arthur franchise with Guy Ritchie, would not be returning.
My biggest hold up on Pacific Rim: Uprising is how disappointing the first installment was. I had such high expectation for Pacific Rim, and the dialogue and acting was errr, not good. I'm sorry, it's true. Or you thought that scene where Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi ummm, "touch tips" as it were to ensure they were compatible. Stupid.
And now we have the latest trailer for Pacific Rim: Uprising, which does show off some impressive action. But, of course, there is some dialogue that just falls flat and some unnecessary destruction. Unnecessary you ask? Yes.
Listen, these big robots are sent in to protect the city. That's their job. So explain to me why they have no issue stepping on top of a lower building while running through the streets just for kicks? Or, even better, the scene with the Jaeger robot thrashing its swords through buildings just to destroy them for fun while running down the street. That seems like a quick way to get fired. But maybe that's just me.
