Belgium-born Murielle and Moroccan immigrant Mounir are desperately in love. The beginning of their marriage is filled with flirtatious smiles and elongated goodbyes. To save money, the couple moves in with Mounir’s adoptive father and employer, Andre. Soon it is clear that Andre and Mounir have formed a deep and complicated relationship that leaves Murielle progressively isolated. As their family grows larger with the birth of three successive daughters, Murielle’s world grows smaller, always crowded by her increasingly domineering husband and father. Crushed by the weight of the men in her life and seeming without hope, Murielle is driven to unforgiveable ends.
