Osadné Trailer

The trailer for Osadné which will make its Canadian Premiere at the 2010 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.

The eastern-most outpost of the European Union, the tiny village of Osdané, Slovakia has little to interest the world beyond its 200 inhabitants. The original Rusyn population is dying off fast. Even the cows are leaving. The mayor, who deadpans that his 36-year tenure should land him in the Guinness Book of World Records, is certain the town’s future lies in tourism. The local orthodox priest, meanwhile, believes that a Chapel of Grief could turn the hamlet into a spiritual centre. Armed with little more than their endearing rural awkwardness, the mayor, the priest, and the leader of the Ruthenian Revival Movement travel to Brussels, where they hope to persuade the EU to support their cause. Winner of the Best Documentary Prize at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Osadné is a charming and witty film with a dry, low-key sense of humour.
