Of Two Minds explores the extraordinary lives, struggles and triumphs of three people among the over five million Americans living with bipolar disorder. Intimate stories of harrowing events from across the country blend together to create a compelling look at what it means to be bipolar. In a blending of personal veritթ and intimate interviews, the film portrays the exhilaration of the manic highs and the crushing despair of depression. Far from a clinical study of mental health issues, this film is a vibrant canvas of emotions ranging from painful to painfully funny, with unflinchingly honest personal ac"_counts and moments of decisions and change. The passion to make this film traces back to co-director Lisa Klein's sister Tina, who was diagnosed with manic depression in the early 1990s and died in 1994. Tina's suffering was as real as that of any patient fighting a chronic illness, yet the understanding and compassion toward her suffering was nearly absent. By putting a human face on bipolar disorder we hope that Of Two Minds will help move toward reducing the stigma that continues to plague those who live with the condition every day.
