Nomad's Land - Sur les traces de Nicolas Bouvier Trailer (2009)

“One thinks that one is going to make a journey, yet soon it is the journey that makes or unmakes you,” wrote esteemed travel author Nicolas Bouvier in L’Usage du monde. Inspired by these sage words, novice filmmaker and untested traveller Gaël Métroz grabs his camera and sets out to replicate Bouvier’s storied journey from Geneva to Sri Lanka. However, Métroz is soon moved to deviate from his planned path, instead striking out through remote and inhospitable regions of Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. In encountering astounding landscapes and exotic communities, the director ignites his own nomadic spirit, finally affording him a true kinship with his hero Bouvier.
