Trailer for NCR: Not Criminally Responsible.

In a delusional frenzy, a previously non-violent young man savagely attacked “the prettiest woman he could see” in a shopping mall. Clearly suffering from a mental disorder, he was found not criminally responsible and confined to a forensic psychiatric facility. Twelve years later, he’s on medication, doing exceptionally well and living in the community under supervision. Now he’s applying for a conditional discharge, and his victim is terrified he’ll stop taking his meds and find her again. Four-time Emmy award-winning director John Kastner gained unprecedented access to the doctors and the police who investigated the crime, as well as to the victim and her parents, whose traumas remain real and palpable. Kastner once again brilliantly puts a human face to the fraught tensions that fuel the debate over victim rights, public safety and the rights of the mentally ill who have committed an act of violence.
