Mute Trailer (2018)
Trailer for Mute, starring Alexander Skarsgard, Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux.
Berlin, the future, but close enough to feel familiar: In this loud, often brutal city, Leo (Alexander Skarsgard) -- unable to speak from a childhood accident -- searches for his missing girlfriend, the love of his life, his salvation, through dark streets, frenzied plazas, and the full spectrum of the cities shadow-dwellers. As he seeks answers, Leo finds himself mixed up with Cactus Bill (Paul Rudd) and Duck (Justin Theroux), a pair of irreverent US army surgeons on a mission all their own.
This soulful sci-fi journey from filmmaker Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code, Warcraft) imagines a world of strange currencies in which echoes of love and humanity are still worth listening to.
Mute is a sequel of sorts to Duncan Jones' Moon. The director initially planned on doing Mute first, but the production was considered too big. Since the two films share the same universe, expect a cameo from Sam Rockwell. Or at least a reference to his character.
Also, just like Moon, Clint Mansell has been hired to compose the score.
I was an instant fan of Alexander Skarsgård during his time on HBO's True Blood. And, though Tarzan wasn't all that great, I still look forward to seeing the actor in other productions. So now we have another premium network, Netflix, giving Alexander the starring spot in Duncan Jones' adaptation of Mute.
Though the first (and possibly only) trailer for Mute only teases at the premise, what it does convey is a tour de force performance by Alexander Skarsgard. And, of course, the music definitely looks on point.
I'll admit that I had hoped for more from the preview, but still can't wait to see what looks to be a possible sci-fi classic.
