Second trailer for Midnight Special makes it a point to show more of Adam Driver, who recently made a big splash with moviegoers courtesy of his role as Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

With an original release set for November 25, 2015, Warner Bros announced that it would push Midnight Special back about 5 months to March 18, 2016. Though the studio didn't exactly say why, there are a few theories...

1. Early screenings of the film were super positive, giving Warner Bros the greenlight they were hoping to pump a bit more budget into the film and upgrade some of the VFX.

2. That weekend was far too packed with competition. Every genre was pretty much booked for the Thanksgiving weekend thanks to film's like The Night Before, Victor Frankenstein and The Good Dinosaur.

3. Maybe a bit of 1 and 2?

Looks like someone is having a flare up

Bit of honesty here--I wasn't at all impressed with the first trailer for Midnight Special. It looked interesting but, in the end, boring. But now with the film's theatrical trailer, I see something more akin to Starman, a film that I absolutely adore.

And, as mentioned above, the visuals do look improved, which is a plus considering that the supporting cast in Midnight Special is nothing short of exceptional. Michael Shannon, Adam Driver, Joel Edgerton and Sam Shepard? Awesome. Bring in a splash of estrogen with Kirsten Dunst -- who I feel has taken an interesting turn in her film career -- and we can almost declare this film as an ensemble picture.

Everything about Midnight Special screams classic sci-fi -- please refer to my Starman reference -- and in a single two-minute preview we've gone from doubters to believers.
