Marmaduke Trailer (2010)
Trailer for Marmaduke.
Brad Anderson created the decades-running newspaper comic strip, about a mischievous Great Dane who lives with the Winslow family, in 1954. The big dog then appeared in several animated episodes of "Heathcliff" and "Garfield and Friends."
Marmaduke is based on the comic strip of the same name. The comic by Brad Anderson ran from 1954 to 2015. In the comic Marmaduke does not talk, as he is just an oversized dog who gets into trouble.
Marmaduke’s breed is a Great Dane and a pure bred male can weigh up to 200 pounds. In the film, there are two dogs playing the part of Marmaduke.
Marlon Wayans plays the voice of Lightning. His real life nephew Damon Wayans Jr. plays Thunder. Along with voicing a dog in Marmaduke, Owen Wilson has provided the voice for an otter in The Fantastic Mr. Fox, a turkey, in Free Birds, and a car in Cars.
Those who do not find animals talking to be amusing or entertaining should steer clear of Marmaduke, for the rest of us, the trailer is pretty darn cute. It is ridiculous and a little terrible, but putting aside a too critical eye, it is also cute.
The Marmaduke trailer is over-the-top silly and features so many of the scenes that are expected In these family movies featuring cats and dogs, such as the family’s large dog hurtling toward his master’s new boss, which will no doubt lead to some disaster. There is the famous array of actors as the voices of the other animals, so along with Owen Wilson as Marmaduke, George Lopez, Kiefer Sutherland, and Emma Stone also lend their voices to cuddly creatures. The most perplexing casting choice is Fergie as the dog love interest of Marmaduke. She does not have the most recognizable speaking voice but perhaps that is what they were going for. Judy Greer is most likely under-used as the mom, who we only get a glimpse of in the trailer, but any Judy Greer is better than no Judy Greer.
There really is not anything new or exceptionally special about the trailer for Marmaduke but the two young children who watched the trailer with me could not stop laughing throughout the entire trailer and asked to watch it again, which is exactly what I am sure the makers of Marmaduke were aiming for.
