Amid the perpetual torrent of humanity of Tokyo’s Shibuya district, timid Junko (Norie Yasui), a 22-year-old office worker, is approached by a man who promises to change her life and help her realize her dreams. His kind words seem right out of a fairy tale. The following day, Junko starts her new life with a new name — Lulu. She is a secondary actress in pornographic films now. Hardly the fairy-tale life, is it, but the constant badgering by her mother (Makiko Watanabe) and the ingratitude of her colleagues have driven the young woman’s desire to be something else, someone else. The wigs and costumes of her new otaku-fetish persona will do nicely for now. At her firt shoot, she meets Ayano (Mayu Sakuma). If Lulu is sweet, docile and innocent, Ayano’s personality is strong, rebellious and violent. A deep friendship unites the two women, who will help each other endure a milieu in which, to satisfy an eager clientele, they must abandon all inhibitions, indulge in wanton sexuality and even “fake” being raped. Though she struggles to keep her two lives separate, Lulu slowly loses herself in her character, overwhelmed by her popularity which pushes her to ever greater extremes as each day she becomes more of an object for her manager and her fans, one of whom is particularly unbalanced...
