Kidnap Feature Trailer (2017)
Feature Trailer for Kidnap.
A typical afternoon in the park turns into a nightmare for single mom Karla Dyson (Academy Award winner Halle Berry) when her son suddenly disappears. Without a cell phone and knowing she has no time to wait for police help, Karla jumps in her own car and sets off in pursuit of the kidnappers. A relentless, edge-of-your seat chase ensues, where Karla must risk everything to not lose sight of her son. In this tense, action-fueled thriller, directed by Luis Prieto and from the producers of Salt and Transformers, one mother's heroic attempt to take back her son leads her to ask herself how far she will go to save her child.
This film has been "in the works" for a long time. The principal photography on the film started back on October 27th of 2014 in New Orleans. Filming then ended on December 7, 2014.
The film's release date has had plenty of dates due to the Studio Relativity Media's financial struggles. The film was originally scheduled for release on October 9, 2015, but it was pushed back to February 26, 2016. Then, the film was re-scheduled to May 13, 2016, followed by another date change to December 2, 2016. Eventually Kidnap was pulled off the schedule again and slated for release on March 10, 2017. But, believe it or not Relativity lost the rights of the film after 2 and half years of working on the film. Aviron Pictures became the new distributor of the film and will release the film on August 4, 2017...finally!
This will only be Studio Aviron Pictures' sixth film:
Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return
And So It Goes
Before I Go to Sleep
Back to the Jurassic
My All American
It is good to see that this film is going to finally see the light of day. Just like this film, Halle Berry has been on a bit of a hiatus with her last film being X-Men: Days of Future Past back in 2014...the same time Kidnap started filming.
I am up in the air on this film. I like the premise, but do we need another kidnapping film? The one thing that stands out for this film, of course besides the most beautiful woman in the world Halle Berry, is that the parent in Kidnap is an ordinary person. She has no prior military or special training, she is a regular mom like all of us. She is relying purely on motherly instincts and adrenaline to bring back her son.
While this trailer is better than the first, I will still catch Kidnap in my living room rather than seeing it in theaters in August.
