Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Trailer (2017)
Trailer for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle starring Karen Gillan, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black.
In the brand new adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the tables are turned as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji. When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, into the bodies of their avatars, played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji –Jumanji plays you. They’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…
Jake Kasdan is the Director for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Much of his directorial experience comes from the TV side, but he has directed a few feature films including: Bad Teacher, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, and Sex Tape.
This film is supposed to not be a remake or reboot of the original Jumanji film, more of a sequel to the 1995 film which ended up raking in over $100 Million at the box office.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will hit theaters (December 20, 2017) almost exactly 22 years after the original film did back on December 15, 1995.
I am a little surprised to see the new approach to the film which I loved. It is a much more modern concept with the kids getting sucked into the video game even though the video game is old and much before their time. Plus we get a big difference from the original with the kids getting sucked into the Jumanji world instead of the world coming to them.
Where is the board game? This is what I kept wondering and we saw glimpses of the board game in the teasers with someone finding it on the beach. They pick it up and shake the game, but there is no sign of the board game in this trailer.
I am torn on this film based on this trailer. While it looks to be a pretty good film with a solid funny cast, if I had not seen the title of the film I would not know it had any connection to the original Jumanji film. I feel like this movie could stand on its own and not have anything to do with Jumanji. But, we only have this one trailer so far and hopefully there will be a brighter outlook as we get more trailers.
