Jack the Giant Slayer ADI - Slayer Designs

in Jack the Giant Slayer | Posted on November 18, 2013 Runtime: 5:36

We don't always follow the filmmaking process through to the end. Sometimes a production hires us to help conceptualize creature characters that they know will be executed digitally, and we know that doing flat art will be the extent of our involvement. Such was the case in Jack the Giant Slayer. We worked in a bit of a vacuum, with no real input from the director. Our main artists were Steve Koch, Farzad Varahramyan, and John Donahue. Our process was to blast out a bunch of loose monochromatic sketches, let the director make selects, and proceed to tighter color work. We only had a week or two on it, so this design phase was compressed.
