It Trailer (2017)

Trailer for Stephen King's It.

When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.

The film is based on 1986 horror novel by American author Stephen King of the same name. The story follows the exploits of seven children as they are terrorized by the eponymous being, which exploits the fears and phobias of its victims in order to disguise itself while hunting its prey. "It" primarily appears in the form of a clown in order to attract its preferred prey of young children.

The novel won the British Fantasy Award in 1987, and received nominations for the Locus and World Fantasy Awards that same year. Publishers Weekly listed It as the best-selling book in the United States in 1986.

In 1990, the novel was adapted into a television miniseries starring Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown, John Ritter as Ben Hanscom, Harry Anderson as Richie Tozier, Richard Masur as Stan Uris, Tim Reid as Mike Hanlon, Annette O'Toole as Beverly Marsh, Richard Thomas as Bill Denbrough, Olivia Hussey as Audra Phillips, Dennis Christopher as Eddie Kaspbrak, and Michael Cole as Henry Bowers.

The film has a pretty talented crew working behind-the-scenes. The creative team includes director of photography Chung-Hoon Chung (“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”), production designer Claude Paré (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), editor Jason Ballantine (“The Great Gatsby”), and costume designer Janie Bryant (TV’s “Mad Men”).

To this day I can remember the first time I saw the It mini series and how terrified I was. At the time I was about 10 years old and it was the first true horror film I had seen that shook me to my core. It is without a doubt the scariest thing I have ever seen.

So, when I heard they were remaking the classic Stephen King killer, like with any remake I was wondering why. The bar is set so high and people like myself have a certain perception of who Pennywise is and the psychological games he can play.

With that being said, this new version of It looks to be very terrifying. Pennywise has a new scarier look which I am not too sure I am a fan of. I looks forward to seeing what Director Andrés Muschietti brings to the table and how he plans on terrifying a new generation of kids.
