Trailer for the documentary Houston, We Have a Problem!.

Of course the Cold War was no walk in the park, but compared to the complex chaos in which the world now finds itself, the ideological struggle between capitalism and communism was at least easy to follow. It was also a golden age for those who like a good conspiracy theory. For example, the Kennedy administration secretly bought a wildly expensive space exploration program from Josip Broz, alias Tito. The United States wanted to be the first to put a man on the moon, and the Yugoslavian plan could be very helpful in achieving this goal. In the compelling docu-fiction Houston, We Have a Problem!, filmmaker Ziga Virc returns to the height of the Cold War in the 1960s. Through virtuoso editing of archive material, contemporary footage and interviews with the likes of philosopher Slavoj Zizek, Virc reconstructs how America and Yugoslavia dealt with one another, and how Tito was able to implement his “Coca-Cola Socialism.” The Yugoslavian economy benefitted, until disaster struck when the United States found out it had been sold a billion-dollar lemon and Kennedy demanded his money back.
