When a professor with controversial views arrives to speak at a university conference, he is met by his student chaperon. Her assigned task--getting him to the auditorium without incident--is disrupted by some unexpected difficulty. In resolving the situation, the resolution of the professor's plight is placed in the hands of a most unlikely problem solver, who finds his own means of sending a message on the professor's vile politics. 'Honorarium' examines in a compelling way what is and is not required of us in social situations involving people whose views are very different than our own.
