Trailer for Hellboy, starring Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane and David Harbour.

Hellboy is back, and he's on fire.

From the pages of Mike Mignola's seminal work, this action-packed story sees the legendary half-demon superhero (David Harbour) called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants. There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy is now hell-bent on stopping Nimue without triggering the end of the world.

Where's Ron Perlman you ask? What, have you been hiding under a rock. With all the attempts by both Perlman, who got the hashtag HellboyIII trending on Twitter and director Guillermo del Toro, it was hard to accept that another sequel would be squashed. And why? Well, a sequel was planned for, and a number of events were seen as damn near supernatural signs that the sequel had to be made. Del Toro was confident after seeing more than 100,000 votes in favor of a sequel. All the parties met, including comicbook writer Mike Mignola, and the production just couldn't get off its feet.

So, instead of a sequel, we are given a remake. And, being a remake, the new production under director Neil Marshall kicked things off with some early missteps. Such as casting Ed Skrein to play Ben Daimio. This character is Asian and, once Skrein found out, the actor voluntarily stepped down from the role and requested that the casting team find an Asian actor to match the part. In came Daniel Dae Kim, who, might we add, is an excellent choice.

To be clear, we had absolutely no idea what to expect from this Hellboy restart. Nothing in terms of visuals, dialogue, humor or even how the cast would end up looking. So, with such a big Hellboy trailer drop right before the holidays, there is a lot to take in.

Do we love what has been presented before us? We are not exactly sure. It looks great, with some of the visuals maybe requiring a little bit more work in post-production. But then there are other shots that are straight up awesome.

One thing is for sure, we've watched this trailer a few times already and plan on at least a baker dozen. So that says something, right?
