Hell or High Water Trailer (2016)
Trailer for Hell or High Water, starring Chris Pine, Ben Foster and Jeff Bridges.
Two brothers, Toby (Pine) and Tanner (Foster), go on a calculated bank robbery spree that puts them on a collision course with a West Texas Ranger (Bridges) determined to take them down.
It would seem that a lot of films have been getting picked up off the Black List. The script for Hell or High Water has existed since 2012, but it didn't get any love until 2015. With Peter Berg coming aboard to produce and possibly direct -- he didn't -- the film finally found its cast in April, 2015, with production starting only a month later. The film was also originally filmed under the name Comancheria, due to the region of New Mexico where the story takes place. We can only assume the name didn't resonate, hence the more-wordy change.
I adore both Chris Pine and Ben Foster. I was recently watching 3:10 to Yuma and Smokin' Aces and couldn't help but be impressed by each of these actors ability to fall into character. Put them together in a heist movie? Well, that sounds long overdue.
Even more impressive, they got Jeff Bridges as the guy hunting them. But it doesn't end there. The script was written by the same guy who wrote Sicario -- Taylor Sheridan -- so we can expect a lot of edge of your seat suspense.
Judging by the first trailer for Hell or High Water, the cast, story and action are all on point. I first wasn't sure about the song selection, the "Knocking on Heaven's Door" cover by Guns N' Roses, but it really plays through by the end. My only fear is that our anticipation might now be too high for this one.
