Set to the backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
It was known early on that a sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) was going to happen. It was first announced a week before the release of the first film at San Diego Comic-Con 2014.
David Bowie was going to a possible cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 but the singer unfortunately passed away.
This will be the fourth collaboration between James Gunn and Michael Rooker. Gunn has directed Rooker in Slither, Super, Guardians of the Galaxy and this film. The last three all being superhero films.
This movie is looking great! This trailer also plays like a teaser as it still focuses only of the five main characters: Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot and Drax. We get a few glimpses at new characters like the giant monster which looks to be Shuma Gorath and Mantis (Pom Klementieff).
But we all know who is the star of this trailer...Baby Groot. The comedy that comes from the scene that makes us most of the trailer between Rocket and Baby Groot is great and perfectly sets the tone similar to the first Guardians of the Galaxy.
We have yet to see who or what will be the "villain" in this film and that is just fine. I like how Marvel is keeping a lot of the film a mystery. They do not have sell the film to the audience as most people are very familiar with the first film and will likely see this installment no matter what...I know I am very excited for it and cannot wait!
