International trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy.

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which first appeared in comic books in Marvel Super-Heroes, Issue #18 in January, 1969, stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, an American pilot who leads a crew that includes Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Groot (Vin Diesel), Drax (Dave Bautista) and Rocket (Bradley Cooper). Quill and his band of misfits are forced to come to the aid of the entire Galaxy after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by the villainous Ronan the Accuser.

The role of Peter Quill was highly sought, with big names such as Joel Edgerton, Eddie Redmayne, Lee Pace (who ended up landing the role of villain), Wes Bentley, Jack Huston, Cam Gigandet, Sullivan Stapleton, Logan Marshall-Green, Garrett Hedlund, Chris Lowell, James Marsden, Jim Sturgess, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Aaron Paul all auditioning for the part.

When it comes to other high demand roles, Djimon Hounsou, in an effort to show his son a dark-skinned hero in a superhero film, screened for the part of Drax. Marvel decided he didn't look the part, and was better fit for the role of Korath the Pursuer.

Coming off of two pop-flavored trailers, the international version takes a bit more of a serious turn leaving both "Spirit in the Sky" and "Hooked on a Feeling" in the tape deck. It's a risky move, considering how popular the previous trailers were, but Marvel attempts to make up for the loss of energy with more Rocket.
