After enjoying a summer romance, high school students Danny and Sandy are unexpectedly reunited when she transfers to Rydell High. There Sandy must contend with cynical Rizzo and the Pink Ladies in attempt to win Danny's heart again.
The characters age in films and the age of the actual actors portraying those characters do not always match up exactly. The two main roles from the iconic film Grease were both High School Seniors and 18 years old in the film. While Olivia Newton-John when she played Sandy in the 1978 movie, Julianne Hough is currently 27 years old. And, Aaron Tveit will be 32 when he plays the lead male part, high school senior Danny Zuko. When John Travolta played the role in 1978, he was 24.
