Goon 2: Last of the Enforcers Red Band Trailer (2017)

Red Band Trailer for Goon 2: Last of the Enforcers.

It’s a new day for the Halifax Highlanders. A pro lockout has reunited old teammates and brought a crew of new players to the bench; notably missing from the line-up, however, is everyone’s favourite enforcer and heart of the team, Doug “The Thug” Glatt. Sidelined after one too many hits and now married with a baby on the way, Doug is hanging up his skates and settling into life as an insurance salesman. But when Doug’s nemesis, Anders Cain, is made captain of the Highlanders and new ownership threatens to tear his team apart, Doug is compelled back into action.

Ignoring the wishes of wife Eva, Doug heads to the rink, discovering an unlikely training partner in fellow retired enforcer and one-time arch rival, Ross “The Boss” Rhea. Together with grit, passion and unrivaled loyalty, they will grind out one last chance to do what they do best…protect their team.

Goon: Last of the Enforcers is obviously the sequel to the Goon. Jay Baruchel was a Writer and actor for the first film and now not only wrote and acts in the second film, but he is also stepping into the Director's chair...and this will be the first time Baruchel will Direct a feature film.

The film as two guest appearances by real NHL Hockey players Michael Del Zotto (Philadelphia Flyers) and Tyler Seguin (Dallas Stars). They appear as players for the rival team, the St. John's Shamrocks.

The first Goon did not have much exposure. It earned just over $4 Million at the box office. The reason for such low box office numbers is the film only opened in 19 theaters nationwide and the most theaters it was ever in at one time was a measly 23!

Goon has an 82% rating on RottenTomatoes.

Like most people I did not see the first Goon in theaters. It was not until it was On Demand that I finally watched it and fell in love with it. I was shocked at how much I loved the film. The flow of the film and raunchy humor just kept the whole thing moving along and made the film very enjoyable to watch.

Now, the question is can they carry that raunchy goodness over to this film? Well, based on the trailer it looks like they are on track. They pretty much have the same cast from the first film plus some good new additions. But, there are two main parts that have to come together for this second film to be a success and that is the story needs to be on point and we have a new Director in Jay Baruchel that needs to prove himself. All in all this trailer has me excited for some more Doug Glatt.
