Trailer for Goat, starring James Franco, Ben Schnetzer and Nick Jonas.

Reeling from a terrifying assault, a 19 year-old boy enrolls into college with his brother and pledges the same fraternity. What happens there, in the name of "brotherhood" tests the boy and his loyalty to his brother in brutal ways.

Don't Give Up

Nick Jonas claims he found inspiration for his approach to the fraternity role from a party night he had at Bowling Green State University. And, considering the film is about fraternities, it makes sense that it would have been filmed at a few universities including Xavier University and University of Cincinnati.

Having gone to UCSB, my group of friends and I always ripped on those who felt they needed to join a fraternity or "frat". We had Isla Vista, and there was no shortage of parties. But then we'd visit other campuses and discover how some universities do have a need for them. In conclusion, my respect for fraternities is limited, and the trailer for Goat seems to suggest a fraternity hazing that, though over the top, probably is playing on some source material. Not really my jam, but good to see Nick Jonas getting away from his Disney persona.
