A Swiss-Nigerian actor living in Los Angeles feels strangely compelled to leave for Africa when he learns of the death of his unknown father. Though his father and family are virtual strangers to him, according to Nigerian tradition the eldest son is to see to the arrangements. And Jarreth feels an inexplicable yet deep obligation to depart immediately for his father’s distant homeland. As the mysterious figure of his father and a land emerge through the tales and traditions of the people he meets in Nigeria, Jarreth’s strongest certitudes and values are deeply shaken and challenged.
