Ghostbusters Feature Trailer (2016)

Feature Trailer for Ghostbusters.

Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) and Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) are a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. A few years later, Gilbert lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, but her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. When ghosts invade Manhattan, Gilbert reunites with Yates, teaming up with a nuclear engineer, Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon), and a subway worker, Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones), to save the world from a mysterious evil and powerful demon known as Rowan (Neil Casey) who can exercise control over human forms.

Before the remake, various scripts and ideas for a third movie in the Ghostbusters series had long been planned. These ideas included one in which Bill Murray's character was transformed into a ghost, and another in which the Ghostbusters went to hell. Bill Murray remained uncommited to the project and thus it was decided to make a reboot instead.

The project was officially announced in 2014 with Paul Feig announced as the director. Feig has stated that he was partly inspired by the TV series The Walking Dead. Feig tweeted a picture announcing the main cast of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in January 2015.

Emma Stone was approached but declined partly because "a franchise was a big commitment." Cecily Strong at one point was also considered for a leading role.

Sony Pictures keeps trying to redeem itself after the horrible backlash from the first Ghostbusters Trailer, set a new record....most disliked movie trailer in YouTube history! The trailer has a staggering 632,522 dislikes! This also makes it the 23rd most disliked video overall on YouTube.

This is the problem when you set out to remake a classic like Ghostbusters, which has die hard fans. The expectations are very high! You have to at the same time appeal to the fans who grew up with the Ghostbuster films while at the same time draw in the new fans who may have never seen them. Sony Pictures should take note from Walt Disney as they undertook a similar task with rebooting the Star Wars franchise, but Disney nailed it.

I must say that it does look like things are getting better for Sony with each trailer they release but I do not think it will be enough to draw audiences in large numbers. I have gone from there is no way I will see this film in theaters to now it is looking like a film my kids will enjoy. It is by no means going to be a classic but could be an enjoyable popcorn film for the family.
