Ghostbusters Feature International Trailer (2016)

Feature International Trailer for Ghostbusters.

30 years after Ghostbusters took the world by storm, the beloved franchise makes its long-awaited return. Director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today.

The latest Ghostbusters installment has had so much drama around it that it is hard where to begin. The film, a comedy, has been described as "polarizing" while also creating a political divide. What started a simple debate about having all-female Ghostbusters has spun so far out of control that the film has now become a discussion about race; it turns out that many are upset that Leslie Jones plays a New York subway worker and not a scientist. Some are screaming racism, but Leslie is on the other side of the fence explaining to audiences that they need to just calm down and enjoy the show.

Going to open with my conclusion: Ghostbusters looks like a silly but fun sci-fi comedy that is perfect for the summer season. Boom, I said it. End of story. Sure, the film is piggy backing a franchise to run a story with brand new characters, and we and everybody else are going to have to make our peace with that.

When it comes to Leslie Jones and her character Patty, it's tough to see why people are complaining. By not making her the nerdy (subdued) scientist, her character is hands down THE BEST PART OF THE FILM. She has the sass, the dialogue, and we love it. She's awesome. And, if you're upset about the all-female leads, maybe you can take solace knowing that Chris Hemsworth looks like the surprise side character with a number of punchlines (at his character's expense).

This film was not made to offend, so everybody needs to catch their breath.
