Trailer for Geostorm.

After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world’s leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong—the system built to protect the Earth is attacking it, and it’s a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything...and everyone along with it.

Dean Devlin, Writer & Producer, of Independence Day, makes his feature film directorial debut with suspense thriller Geostorm.

This will also be Writer Paul Guyot's first time working on a feature film. His previous experience only involves TV shows like The Librarians, Leverage and Judging Amy.

The film has seen several release dates shifts. It was originally set for a March 25, 2016 release. But later back in August of 2014, Warner Bros cancelled the March 2016 date for the film, and replaced the film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with its original date. Then, on December 11th, WB shifted its live-action animated film Jungle Book: Origins to 2017 and gave its previous date October 21, 2016 to Geostorm. In September 2015, the studio once again moved back Geostorm's release to January 13, 2017. And, finally the film was moved to its current release date of October 20, 2017 (we think).

Geostorm is another disaster film where planet Earth is in danger and us humans must come to rescue it. But, this time the disaster is actually caused by us. This is climate change to the tenth degree...we can actually change the climate instantly.

There is at least a bit of a unique story which tackles the issues of what happens when humans take technology too far...similar to A.I. robots. Geostorm is a bit of 2012 and Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs gone wrong. Instead of giant foot falling from the sky we get tornadoes and tsunamis.

I must say that based on this trailer, I am disappointed by this film. The CG looks just alright, the film is controlled by a rookie Director and rookie Writer for feature film, there have be many release date shift, and they even had to do extensive re-shoots. It is hard to tell if this film will actually be a disaster itself or turn into something Armageddon. Hopefully we get more in a future trailer.
