Trailer for Furever.

Over the last 50 years, pets have moved from the backyard to the bedroom. Increasingly, owners don’t see an animal at all; they see a family member, a best friend, a fur baby. Life is short, a pet’s life even shorter. The unconditional love they give makes losing them especially painful, and for some, the emptiness is overwhelming. Furever explores how people deal with the stigma of grieving a beloved pet, the creative and quirky ways furry friends are being memorialized and the rapidly growing industry that caters to heartbroken owners. From memory glass to DNA diamonds, freeze-drying to cloning, tattoos infused with ashes to ammunition fuelled by cremated remains, no socially prescribed expressions of mourning exist to curb the ways we pay tribute to man’s best friend. The human-animal bond gives so many people a reason to love, and that’s worth preserving—in life and after death.
